Workshop Synopsis (Abstract):

A survey done by the Project Management Institute (PMI, USA) showed that one of the key practices that make any projects perform better is the application of standard project management practices. Hence, it is crucial that performing organizations must ensure that those involve in projects are equipped with the basic knowledge of project management. ProjectLibre is an opensource project scheduling tool which is cost effective for any enterprise or organization and it is free. This talk aims to introduce the concept of project scheduling from the perspective of the standard for project management and how anyone can use a systematic approach to develop a project schedule using an opensource tool. The talk is beneficial not only to those who are familiar with developing project schedule using commercial software but also those who have never develop a proper project schedule before.

Program objectives:

  1. Main concepts in project management, project planning and project scheduling.
  2. Processes in the project scope management and project scheduling management use in developing project schedule.
  3. Overview of ProjectLibre and features for developing project schedule
  4. Q&A.
