FREE TALK | Responsible Innovation in Project Management
Program Title:
Responsible Innovation in Project Management
Speaker: Dr. Saw Siong Keat (Jay)
PhD, Certified PMP, NLP Practitioner
ProgramSynopsis:
In an era where innovation is accelerating across every industry, project managers are under increasing pressure to deliver cutting-edge solutions—fast. However, when innovation outpaces responsibility, the consequences can be severe: product failures, reputational damage, regulatory backlash, and even loss of life. This evening talk explores howResponsible Innovation (RI)—a framework built on anticipation, inclusion, reflexivity and responsiveness—can be meaningfully applied to project management practices. Drawing on the speaker’s PhD research and years of project experience in multinational technology sectors, the session will examine real-world cases where neglecting RI led to costly or tragic outcomes. FromTesla’s design choices to AI deepfake misuse, the talk will provoke practical reflection on how PMs can play a pivotal role in embedding ethics, foresight and accountability into the project lifecycle.
This 1.5-hour forum aims to introduce the concept ofResponsible Innovation (RI) and its relevance to modern project management, highlight real-world tech failures where a lack of RI led to serious consequences, and share how RI principles can be embedded into stakeholder and risk management practices. The session will conclude with a Q&A and open discussion.
