Workshop Synopsis (Abstract):
Do you often make essential personal financial decisions that decide your future life quality? I bet the answer is yes. Do you often get the chance to make important financial decisions at your workplace? Probably not for most of us. Why? Because this privilege is reserved for the few in senior management positions. Those managers who can make the right project investment decisions will reap the most rewards in their corporate career progression.
If you are currently a project manager or technical project manager, do you have the right skill to be your bosses’ trusted advisor? Especially when it comes to making a project proposal during the annual project funneling and selection process? Or you would rather own the charter of being a project manager who took on a poorly formulated approved project and make your life miserable striving to meet the project goals and financial targets.
Are you looking to joining the rank of those senior managers? Are you looking to acquire the essential project investment appraisal skill to boost your career? Please join our talk. We will share the decision tools to assess projects from the financial investment perspective in the session. You will learn how to appraise projects strategically from the angle of a project sponsor. The concepts that you will learn are not part of any knowledge areas in the PMI PMBOK.
In this talk, you will learn the following concepts:
- Business view on project portfolio
- Projects as vehicles of investment
- Projects and company financial goal alignment
- Extended project lifecycle view
- Financial metrics for project investment evaluation
