INTRODUCTION AND PROGRAM OBJECTIVES:
Certified Project Management for AI (CPMAI) is a practical methodology for managing artificial intelligence, machine learning, generative AI, and data-driven initiatives from idea to implementation. It provides a structured lifecycle that helps teams define the right business problem, assess data readiness, develop and evaluate models, and operationalize AI solutions responsibly. Unlike general project management approaches, CPMAI addresses the unique challenges of AI projects, including uncertainty, data quality, model iteration, governance, ethical use, explainability, privacy, security, and long-term monitoring.
The methodology follows six phases: Business Understanding, Data Understanding, Data Preparation, Model Development, Model Evaluation, and Operationalizing AI. These phases guide participants to connect AI opportunities to measurable business value while managing technical, operational, and stakeholder risks throughout the project lifecycle.
The course also emphasizes practical decision-making, helping participants recognize when AI is suitable, what risks must be managed, and how to prepare projects for adoption beyond the pilot stage.
It gives teams a common language to align business goals, data needs, model performance, and governance expectations before wider implementation.
After attending the course, participants should be able to:
- Understand why AI projects require specialized project management practices.
- Translate business problems into appropriately scoped AI use cases and measurable outcomes.
- Define data requirements, assess data readiness, and plan data preparation activities.
- Manage iterative AI development, delivery, testing, and stakeholder acceptance.
- Identify risks involving quality, bias, privacy, security, explainability, and responsible use.
- Plan operational monitoring, maintenance, retraining, and governance for AI systems.
METHODOLOGY
The course content and concepts are explained using practical business examples, guided templates, scenario-based discussions, and hands-on workshop activities. Participants will work through an AI project case study across the CPMAI lifecycle so that each phase produces practical outputs for the next phase.

This course is intended for project managers, product owners, business analysts, data and technology leaders, subject matter experts, risk and compliance professionals, and anyone responsible for planning or delivering AI-enabled products, services, or process improvements.
DURATION
3 Days (9:00am to 5:00pm), additional 1-day for PMI-CPMAI® exam.
