Program Title:
Technical Project Report Writing for Non-Technical Persons
Speaker: Aaron Ong Fook Leong,
Industrial Hygienist, DOSH Reg Com. Person, HRD Corp Certified Trainer
Program Synopsis:
Non-technical persons (NTPs) are sometimes driven to the forefront to describe technical objects, dimensions, specifications, and then to present it in a report format as an added part of their job function. Many of these NTPs either do not have formal training in technical subjects apart from what they have learned in elementary science class during high school which are largely forgotten. As a result, they are hard pressed and unable to understand technical jargon.
An example of this can be found in one incident when our office was flooded and caused considerable damage. A young insurance loss adjuster was dispatched from an insurance company and visited for damage assessment. Being unable to make simple measurements, understand dimensions, difference between metric/imperial and also to interpret simple technical plans, the report writing was an arduous task that was only and solely completed with my full assistance.
This 1.5-hour forum aims to discuss issues and offer insights and solutions for NTPs to write simple yet effective technical reports, together with preparation of illustrations, dimensions, specifications and description of any non-conformance. All of these reports will be written and presented in a proper format from Introduction all the way to Conclusion. The session will end with a Q&A and discussion.
